That entire day, Vaidaksh barely left Siyanshi’s side. He was watchful and protective, keeping an almost unshakable presence around her, as if his very presence could shield her from the harm she’d endured. But duty called, he had to attend the ongoing medical camp, so, reluctantly, he left Dr. Sofia in charge of Siyanshi’s care. Even then, his absence was never for long. Every hour or so, he would return quietly, checking on her with that same intense gaze, his eyes scanning her face for any sign of discomfort.
And while he ensured she was well, he couldn’t resist slipping in his little brand of mischief. Every now and then, in the middle of some casual conversation, he would refer to her as his wife. The first time, Siyanshi had been caught so off guard that her cheeks burned instantly, and she’d quickly looked away. But that blush, soft, genuine, and tinged with embarrassment, was enough to make Vaidaksh’s lips curl into a private, satisfied smile. He lived for that reaction, repeating the tease just to see it again.
